Health benefits

  • Antioxidants - The antioxidants found in kombucha, including epigallocatechin gallate, theaflavins, thearubinigen and others, help the body to: clean up excess free radicals from the bloodstream which can contribute to inflammation, hypertension , hyperglycemia and therefore diabetes.
  • Probiotics - The probiotics found in Kombucha work to restore good health to your colon. They provide acetic acid which is consumed by bacteria in your colon to produce other beneficial molecules that repair the lining of the colon.
  • AGE (Advanced Glycation End Produits) - are the result of excess free sugars in the bloodstream binding to proteins in the body. This structural change is currently the subject of more research, but laboratory studies have already shown that tea catechins are able to inhibit the formation of AGE's. Increased AGE's have been associated with Alzheimer's disease, progression of diabetes, progression of cancer and other health conditions.
  • D-Saccharic ACid 1,4-Lactone - This special molecule exercises the ability to cleanse the liver and kidneys and helps restore normal pancreatic function. In addition, it is a B-glucuronidase inhibitor, which is an enzyme involved in the elimination of toxins and drugs from the liver. (note* currently studied in animal cell lines)
  • B12 - Low levels are present and can be helpful to add into the diet for those who are vegan! Every little bit helps!
  • Low sugar content - Even if kombucha contains sugar, most of it is consumed by bacteria during the fermentation process. In addition, the special enzymes inside the kombucha should help reduce hyperglycemia after eating and drinking and should therefore be a "soda type product" which is acceptable for diabetics, this should be the subject further research!
